Using the Pomodoro

It is a very simple concentration technique but if applied with discipline it gives very good results, personally I use it in a configuration of 45 min of concentration and 15 min of rest, however lately I have been using only 15 minutes of activity and I give it with the next one until completing 1 hour on average and this because I am at home and with the family, so I have enough interruptions in concentration that I try to stop them with shorter periods.

The application that I frequently use is called marinara pomodoro that is in the Chrome app store and that also works for Edge, which I have used lately and it works great, but well, the technique as such is to use a timer if it we take it to its minimum expression.

Another thing I do is put the date with time in a simple table and in another column write down the pomodoro time, this is a bit meticulous but if you are aware it is the best thing to do to see what if you are doing something and that you are advancing as little as it may seem.

So the steps are simple.

  1. Set your preferred timer
  2. Find your ideal time (may vary with time or situation), 15m 25m 45m
  3. Record in a 2-column table.
  4. Analyze and improve.

Learning English solely through Duolingo

With the desire to be able to understand and speak English fluently, I have always used various tools, audio, the internet, courses, but in the end, I realized that what really matters is the quality time you dedicate to learning something. That's why in 2020, I focused solely on using Duolingo. I used the account I had created six years ago (2013-12-16) and at that time, I had completed all the circles but only at level 1. This meant I had all the skills unlocked, allowing me to start from the most difficult to the easiest, which is what I did in 2020. I completed all of Tower 8 and also the entire first tower.

The method I used for practice was to repeat every sentence from each level for 1 minute and then write it down in Evernote. I dedicated 1 hour daily to this, totaling 70 hours throughout the year. The last data is not visible because I haven't updated it in the following image.

But at the end of the year, Duolingo ranked me in the top 2% of users who used their platform the most, out of nearly 100 million users. This is encouraging, but it's not the real result I'm aiming for.

The objective I have outlined is the one I have in my project note:

Objective: Speaking English Fluency

Motivation: Knowing English will open the doors to knowledge for me. Reading books, studying with videos, traveling—so much will change if I learn English.

Another thing is that since I am dedicating time to learning programming, I am currently spending only 5 minutes a day to maintain my streak and practicing reading official documentation. For now, that's where I am.

And can you learn English by just doing this? The answer is a resounding yes. The key is dedicating the time, measuring it, and staying focused during that time.

There is still a long way to go in the towers, and we will do it.

I just wanted to share this, that's all.

Greetings and best wishes!

Reserve a time at the end of every 4 days

Well then, for those 15 min of daily reflection you must ask certain questions to give objectivity to your daily, weekly, quarterly, semi-annual, annual, biannual, five-year to ten-year projections.

Since the organization in huge installments go hand in hand with what you spend every minute of your day.

So ask yourself this series of questions 1 hour before going to sleep, it would be ideal, but if not just put the reminder every day and decide to ignore it or apply it. Like a Check List, where it says "haa! This is today, well! NO better another day" but you will have it reminding you every day ADD a simple alert on your mobile that repeats itself. And when that moment comes when you decide to do it, you should have this list at hand:

QUESTIONS SECTION 1

Remember these questions related to your assertiveness and priorities:

Does this task help me to achieve my purposes? WHAT ARE MY PURPOSES?

Does doing this task give me any kind of satisfaction?

If I do this task, will I really be moving forward with meaningful work?

If the answer is NO, kindly decline the invitation.

Once the task to be carried out has been defined, it must be accomplished and for this, ask yourself:

What can happen that delays or hinders what I want to do? and How can I avoid it?

QUESTION SECTION 2

IF I CHECK IT TODAY IN AM HOURS

"What I did yesterday?

What am I going to do today?

Am I stuck or am I having a problem with a task? "

If you could do just one thing today, what would it be?

What do I have to do today to feel that my day has been really effective?

What did I learn yesterday?

What can I do to improve?

IF I CHECK IT TODAY IN HOURS PM

"What I did today?

What am I going to do tomorrow?

Am I stuck or am I having a problem with a task? "

If you could do only one thing tomorrow, what would it be?

What do I have to do tomorrow to feel that my day has been really effective?

What have I learned today?

What can I do to improve?

QUESTION SECTION 3

Others more:

Why are we doing this? | Remember the Future

Assign responsibilities | 'What', 'Who' and 'When'

QUESTION SECTION 4

Regarding Psychology

How has my day been? Achievements? Challenges?

Have I thrived or just survived? How is my physical, emotional and spiritual health?

Did the relationships thrive or did they just survive?

What has given me energy? Joy? Hope? Inspiration? Is there anything I can be thankful for?

What have I learned today? About me? Of others?

Reflection:

Finally I show the example of one day in these pandemics that I made a complete record of my activity at home and this is what I found on that specific day, all day focused on documenting everything done and I obtained this result:

How do I spend my time per day? # Another question to keep in mind

The numbers are minutes so you get an idea of the hours invested in each activity.

A real geek, obsessed and unusual activity. I only did it that day because it requires a lot of effort. What a day!. The amazing thing would be to have that activity recorded every day automatically, which with Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning is achievable and may be in the next few years.

Until next time.

The best plugin for fast reading on the web

There are countless speed reading courses but they are not worth it, just as there are many tools to learn a language, in the end what matters is the dedication with which you face whatever the challenge is, in terms of speed reading on a computer. I have found this plugin for Chrome that works very well, it is very easy to configure it, it is installed in the browser and the Alt + S keys are pressed and a box appears on the screen with the words that are passing one to another at the speed that is want.

    Installing Jetzt - Speed Reader

Well the first thing I do is download it from the GitHub repository

ds300 / jetzt: Speed reader extension for chrome (github.com)

It is downloaded in a local folder can be in C:

Then it goes to browser extensions and enable developer options.

And in the upload button look for the folder. And voila, a logo will appear as follows:

    Blogs that inspire to continue

Well, for a long time I had the idea of creating my own blog, so much so that since 2017 I come with the name of my personal brand, but it is until now that I have decided to do it, perhaps I had not noticed the incredible potential of the internet, You don't have to reach everyone if you don't have the right people in your niche and more will come from now on.

So when I did some research I found those two Blogs that interested me a lot, they inspire me to continue creating post as I can, and to improve my writing.

    They are these two:

    About Enrique Dans »Enrique Dans

About Manz - José Román Hernández | Emezeta.COM

About me - Victor Robles | Victor Robles (victorroblesweb.es)

Enrique's is 👍 great 👍, his philosophy of creating the blog identifies me is one about having an activity log and seeing how it is progressing, and Emezeta's good is about Computer Science and I like that. Víctor Robles's is very good, similar to this one, the important thing is to start and move forward.

It is encouraging to see how those blogs started with blogs as short as 30 words, or as short as this one, a long time ago. See how they started that influences when it comes to continuing.

It also makes me think how it was that social networks such as Facebook or Twitter were created have a lot to do with blog and see them from a unique and differential perspective, there like when Google bought Blogger.

One of the things that I will improve as I go are:

Optimize the functionalities, design of this website and SEO.

    Create original and practical content.

    Receive feedback and polish details.

    And nothing, that's it.

Maybe I miss something more to say but hey when I remember I will update the post.

    Greetings and success.

PS: It takes time to make a post. As simple as it may seem.

Marinara: Pomodoro® Assistant - Chrome Web Store (google.com)

It is an excellent pomodoro to control the time you dedicate to some activity. It can be configured and the normal thing is 25 minutes of activity and 5 of rest, I was testing it for some time that way but I changed it and currently use 45 minutes of activity and 15 of rest, each one configures it as it suits him best.

    Google translator:
